At last! It’s here! The season finale of Big Brother 8! Just kidding—of course that’s not why the fuss. Today is release day! Weighing in at 7.8 ounces and measuring 8.2 x 5.2 x 0.8 inches, Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress is officially in bookstores today!

What a weird feeling. I feel like it’s part Christmas, part my birthday and part…well, part the day my first book hits shelves. My parents emailed me to say they (along with my brother whom I’m sure is scoring a free lunch out of the deal) are heading off to Barnes and Noble to get their copy. No doubt they are feeling like they’re heading off to the hospital nursery to get a first peak at their new grandchild. (Seriously. My mom emailed “Happy Birthday, Astrid! Grandma loves you!) I make a lot more sense now, don’t I?

My dad assumed I didn’t sleep last night—not so much because of the book but because they’re coming for a visit tomorrow. I’m excited about both but my sleep—like my appetite—won’t stop for no one. Even though my stomach is all in knots, I’ll be eating my way through this monumental day. I did have some weird dreams though. Lots of dreams about dice and one about creating these giant stickers with the book’s cover on them so people could stick them in the bottom of their swimming pools. Interesting idea. And to think I work in marketing! I also woke up today before my alarm, which always makes me mad. I shortchanged myself a good 7 minutes of sleep. But I managed to stay in bed and force my eyes shut. I even hit the snooze a few times for good measure.

Anyway, thank you for indulging me my rantings and emotional ups and downs throughout this process. I’m going to finish my coffee and get ready for work. My friend Jodi is picking me up. She said on a day like today, I shouldn’t have to drive, which probably means she’s worried I’ll succumb to binge drinking and mental breakdowns. Oh well. I’m sure it’s nothing a milkshake can’t cure.

Have a wonderful release day!
