Hey! Guess who’s nominated for a 2008 ENnie Award? OK, I’ll tell you. ME! Well, Confessions of a Part-Time Sorceress is if you want to get technical. And well, lots of other people but still—I’m among them! Confessions is nominated for Best Regalia—the category for “best product used to complement role playing game play.” And the coolest, most mysterious sounding category in my book. I’m honored beyond belief. This is way cooler than my 7th grade badminton trophy.
For those of you who may not know about ENWorld (Mom) let me explain. It’s the most robust, most lively Dungeons & Dragons fansite out there. The ENnies are an annual “fan-based celebration of excellence in tabletop roleplaying gaming.” Basically it’s the People’s Choice awards for the gaming industry. Joan Rivers would have a field day on this red carpet. Oh the fun I’ve had with ENWorld, lurking on the message boards. They’ve had some…er…interesting…discussions about Confessions. They’ve also had some fabulous conversations about my hair cut circa 1991. Yes it was horrible in retrospect. It was permed and Aqua Netted and scorched on a curling iron but come on! You want to focus on the hair? What about the unibrow? Or the mock turtleneck? Or, for the love, the peacock eyeliner? Come on, people! The whole package was admittedly pretty awful. Why focus on the hair?
But enough about the fashion-challenged young me. She’s been through enough. I’m tickled at the thought of being nominated for an ENnie. I feel like running to Walgreens and buying up reams of poster board and glitter and making signs urging people to vote for me. Maybe I will.
If you feel inclined to…oh I don’t know…vote for Confessions or one of the many deserving nominees (but not the ones in my category, okay?) get ready on July 21st. Voting is open until August 3rd. Bookmark this page (Mom.)
