Two months ago I was in Paris on vacation, celebrating my dear friend Jenn’s birthday. She invited a group of girls to help ring in her 45th. Needless to say, we had a blast. So much food, so much wine, so much quality girl time.

The events that happened today in that magical city are heart-wrenching. I turned the radio off and then felt bad because it shouldn’t be that easy for the rest of us to tune out. I felt sick. To think there are people in Paris right now celebrating an birthday, an anniversary, a lifelong dream to come to the City of Lights. People having dinner or seeing a concert. Just a typical Friday night. It could have been us. It shouldn’t have been anyone.

I can’t comprehend what or why these things happen but I’m going to follow Bart’s lead. He said “Not this year. Probably not next year. But sometime soon let’s go to Paris. Let’s spend a shitload of money and have the best vacation ever.”

Paris, we’ll be back. And so will you.
